Adjusting Screw:

• 1953-1956 K Models / 1957-E1960 XLH:
  Original hex head CAD adjuster screw# (63610-53).
  Original screw was replaced by hex head screw (63610-53A) in L1960 and replaced again by (63610-70) in 1971.
  Original “plain” #10-32 x 3/16“ x 3/8” washer (6156) turned into a brass washer at some point in time.
  But the part number stayed the same for the washer.
  It had a #10-32 x 3/16“ x 3/8” hex nut (7630) to tighten up the screw.
• 1958-1969 XLCH:
  Original adjuster screw was included with the oiler fitting (at the oil tank).
  A Chain Oiler Screw Kit (26383-32) was available for parts order in 1963 to replace the existing adjuster screw.
  The screw kit contains a parkerized fillister head screw, (1) thick washer and (4) extra thin washers.
  The HD “Genuine” accessories replacement fitting has a 3/8“ hex head screw.
  The screw was replaced by (63610-70) in the 1971 parts catalog.
• L1960-1970 XLH / 1970 XLCH:
  Hex head CAD adjuster screw# (63610-53A) with no washer and a plain #10-32 x 3/16” x 3/8“ hex nut (7630) to tighten up the screw.
  Original nut was replaced by a #10-32 x 3/16” x 3/8“ hex nylock nut (7626W) in 1965.
  Original screw was replaced by (63610-70) in 1970.
• 1971-1976 XLH/XLCH:
  Hex head CAD adjuster screw# (63610-70). Screw looks identical to the -53A screw but it has added lockpatch on the threads.
  Some HD Genuine replacement screws come with a #10-32 nylock nut to tighten up the screw.
  Others only come with the screw itself.
  This may be the reason for the verbiage in the FSM stating to tighten the nut (if used).
